Holistic Counselling Is…
A Personal Experience
Being human is perhaps an ever changing process of becoming, through which we can learn to fully embrace life with all of it’s personal & collective, ordinary & transcendent manifestations.
Hope and despair, joy and sorrow, love and loss are each authentic, integral & ultimately inevitable… human experiences.
Your lived experience (the experience and knowledge gained through living) is rich. Better understanding the stories you tell yourself will help you create the life you want and deserve.
Of Becoming
What is Holistic Counseling?
To open up fully to our human experiences can seem somewhat counter-intuitive. Intensely “rigid” thinking or “negative” emotions for example are often challenging due to their very nature.
As humans however we usually seek to and often develop the most, through consciously integrating our subjective (mental & emotional) lived experience.
This process of becoming better attuned to yourself, will assist you to discover richer meaning/new levels of connectedness with others and with the world around you.
Love & Joy
What is Holistic Counseling?
Your personal journey may already include some difficult, isolating, perhaps even ‘wounding’ experiences and it’s understandable that such can result in feeling displaced, disconnected or even closed off to new life encounters.
Therapy is about offering yourself permission to reflect on the deeper meaning of your unique personal experience and will help you to rediscover that your life is worthwhile.
Meaning Making
What is Holistic Counseling?
Meaning-making is the process of how individuals understand, construe and make sense of life events, relationships, the self.
Making life meaningful, purposeful & rewarding is the result of doing the things and spending time with the people that you love.
What matters therefore is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of your life in every moment.
Personal Growth
What is Holistic Counseling?
Roberto Assagioli’s (1910) vision entitled ‘Psychosynthesis’ is an impressive bio-psychospiritual model of health and well-being and theoretical model that resonates strongly at Life Matters.
Envisaged by Assagioli as a ‘synthesis’, this model draws upon a wealth of concepts & techniques recognised as available to all, adaptive & supportive, in service of human healing and growth.
And Hope…
Psychosynthesis is a psychology of hope which posits that our deepest or most integral sense of “Self” includes both the uniquely personal and the transpersonal.
Psychosynthesis, based on seven core concepts, stresses the importance of the human ‘impulse towards wholeness’ and of the longing and striving for a more authentic & truer experience of Self.
